Job Description/Requirements

Role:

To support the financial management and operations of the credit union through maintenance of accounting records and reports, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and financial practices (GAAP & FASB). Perform accounting duties of moderate complexity in accordance with standard procedures and under minimum supervision.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Work directly with the Electronic Service Organization (ESO) team for Credit Union daily work such as share drafts, exceptions, bill pay, and plastic card fraud.

Responsible for a) the charge off/recovery entries/reporting of member loans, b) interaction with the third-party collections agency, and c) informing the CFO of actual and potential future losses due to charge offs.

Serve in a support role to the Controller in the data compilation of the quarterly NCUA call report.

Administer accounts payable function, maintain assigned subsidiary schedules such as fixed assets, accruals, and prepaids.

In conjunction with the Controller, support the Commercial Loan team via back office processing such as loan reporting, wire/payment processing, and reconciliation.

Process daily general ledger entries.

Reconcile bank accounts and make recommendations for streamlining and enhancing the statement reconciliation processes when necessary.

Research problems or questions from members, clearinghouses and correspondents.

Verify accuracy, completeness and consistency of daily file maintenance transactions.

Assist with and compile segments of a) monthly closings, b) monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and c) year-end budget projections.

Maintain procedures as necessary.

Other job-related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Skills:

Education: A minimum of an associate degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.

Other Skills: Working knowledge of accounting related software programs and spreadsheets required.
