The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on the Child, Adolescent, Stabilization and Adult Units.  The RN is in charge of the unit activities for each shift.  The RN supervises the Mental Health Technicians working on the unit, provides report on all patient and unit concerns to oncoming shifts and to leadership during rounds, administers prescribed medications as ordered, performs patient assessments, ensures physician orders are carried out, responds to psychiatric and medical emergencies, initiates physical holds or mechanical restraints for patients at high risk for harm to self or others as needed, engages with patients throughout the shift, and provides patient education. The RN is accountable for working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team and for promoting effective milieu management on the unit. The RN follows all facility approved policies and procedures.
