Job Description/Requirements

The State College YMCA is currently accepting applications for a full-time Head Swim Team Coach to lead a team of 150+ swimmers. The Head Swim Team Coach will be responsible for planning and supervising practices for swimmers of varying levels, hiring and training assistant coaches, maintaining team records and reports, collaborating regularly with the parent committee, and other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and develop the swim team program, including directing and attending practices as scheduled and being accessible to swimmers of all levels.
• Recruit, hire, supervise, and train assistant coaches to meet program and safety objectives. Process payroll for assistant coaches on a bi-weekly basis.
• Maintain proper team records and file reports as needed.
• Attend team meets and coordinate entry information to meet all deadlines.
• Work with the parent committee to recruit and manage volunteers.
• Communicate professionally and efficiently with the parents of swimmers.
• Ensure the safety of participants at all times.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of aquatic experience as a competitive swimmer or aquatic instructor.
• 5 years of competitive coaching experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of competitive aquatics.
• Successful program development and management experience.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to positively lead, communicate, inspire, and motivate swimmers of all ages.
• Current lifeguard certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with Y-USA swim lesson curriculum is helpful.
• Previous experience with the Hy-Tek software and Team Unify website platform is helpful.
• USA Swimming Coach and YMCA Swim Coach certifications are preferred.

Salary/Benefits:

• $33,000 to $37,000 per year depending on experience (paid hourly).
