Job Description/Requirements

Stahl Sheaffer is currently seeking to hire a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Team at one of our
Pennsylvania office locations in Canonsburg, State College, Clearfield, Selinsgrove, or Harrisburg.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work as part of a team and also independently in evaluating and applying traffic engineering principles,
standards, and criteria
• Utilize various design software/tools (Synchro, HCS, and VISSIM) for traffic analysis for a variety of conditions
and needs at specific intersections, along arterial corridors, and for freeway segments
• Assist with proposal development
• Interact directly with clients at project meetings and ensure that all client project designs meet and exceed
engineering standards
• Provide support to roadway and municipal project managers on all aspects of transportation engineering
• Build and maintain relationships with key traffic engineering clients
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as traffic safety analysis, intersection design, roadway signing
and pavement marking plans; active traffic management, and traffic and signal operations analysis
• Adhere to project schedules and budgets and keep project Manager aware of any issues
• Prepare technical reports and papers for clients and/or internal distribution
• Represent Stahl Sheaffer at conferences and professional societies
• Mentor junior engineers

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Five or more years of experience with transportation engineering projects with a strong background in traffic
impact studies, traffic signal design, and traffic modeling
• Proficient working knowledge of Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong organizational and management skills
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with co-workers, clients, and the general public
• Experience with PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission projects is a plus

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s or master's degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) (preferably from PA)
• The ability to obtain state and federal background clearances to permit working on-site when necessary
• A valid driver’s license and daily access to a motor vehicle
