Job Description/Requirements

The Centre Region Council of Governments, Regional Fire Protection Program, located in the heart of Central Pennsylvania, seeks an innovative, collaborative, dynamic, community-minded leader with emergency management and administrative experience for the Assistant Chief of Emergency Management position.

The position serves as the Centre Region municipal Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC). The Centre Region EMC is the appointed emergency management coordinator for the Borough of State College and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Halfmoon, Harris and Patton. Additionally, the Centre Region EMC manages the joint emergency management program in collaboration with the Pennsylvania State University. The Centre Region EMC must meet the requirements for municipal coordinator as directed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Maintaining the Centre Region/Penn State Joint Emergency Operations Plan.
• Activation of the Centre Region/Penn State Joint Emergency Operations Center and staffing for special events including Penn State Football.
• Coordination of Centre Region Emergency Management Council activities.
• Training and exercise planning for Centre Region COG and participating municipalities.
• Coordination of public information activities and participate in Centre Region public safety events.
• Coordination and training of Centre Region Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers.
• Maintenance and training for the joint DisasterLAN (DLAN) information sharing software.
